About Us

Autism Edmonton respectfully acknowledges that we are gathered on the Indigenous land in Treaty 6 territory. This place – Amiskwacîwâskahikan, Edmonton – is on traditional lands, meeting grounds, gathering places and traveling. The footsteps of diverse Indigenous peoples have marked this territory from time immemorial – Cree, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Dene, Nakota Sioux, and Métis – whose histories, languages, and cultures continue to enrich our communities.

We are all treaty members, with recognition and respect for Indigenous Peoples and the traditional territories on which we live, work, and play. We call upon our collective honoured traditions and spirits to share responsibility for stewardship of this beautiful land and our community.

Since 1971, Autism Edmonton (Autism Society of Edmonton Area) has provided services and support to autistic individuals in our community. Autism Edmonton has built a reputation as the "go-to" Autism Centre in Edmonton that connects families, individuals and professionals with autism-related resources and programs.

Autism Edmonton is the oldest autism organization in the province, serving Edmonton and the surrounding area since 1971. At the Edmonton Autism Society, we deliver life-enhancing programs which ignite the power and potential of autistic individuals.

We provide programs and support services for autistic individuals during all stages of life and any stage of diagnosis. For example, we offer support groups for autistic adults, LGBTQ+ members, and for both partners and parents of autistic individuals. Additionally, we provide respite, recreational, and learning activities for different ages. We also promote well-being and strengthen our community by increasing understanding of autism.

VISION: All autistic people have a life full of possibilities.

MISSION: To enhance the lives of autistic people through knowledge, services and inclusive opportunities.

Acceptance: We welcome and embrace inclusivity and diversity of all people, ideas and perspectives in building community.

Integrity: We believe in mutual trust, honesty, transparency, and accountability amongst ourselves, allies and stakeholders.

Respect: We treat one another and all people with empathy, courtesy and kindness.

Equity, diversity and inclusivity are foundational values at Autism Edmonton. We want to create a culturally safe environment that acknowledges, honours and respects the lived experience of every person and community. Autism Edmonton knows it is responsible for a future that is more equitable, diverse, and inclusive for all.

Autism Edmonton has a wide variety of groups, programs and services, intended to serve individuals of all ages and abilities.
