Family Support Coordinator

1. What is acceptance for you?
Acceptance to me means that you can be your true self and belong without judgement.

2. What’s your favourite holiday?
Christmas is my favourite holiday – especially Christmas Eve.

3. Who’s in your village?
I am blessed to have a large village – I am happy to have my husband in my corner, as well as my kids and many friends that I can count on.

4. Why did you join Autism Edmonton?
Two passions in my life are Family and Autism – I was so excited to see the Family Support Coordinator position come up and I just knew that I would love to work here in that role. I have 4 children, 3 of which have varying degrees of special needs including Autism, Tourette Syndrome and ADHD. I am honoured to help families navigate through receiving an autism diagnosis as I feel that I can relate to what they are going through having that lived experience myself.

5. What is your favourite book, author or movie?
The most recent book that I have read is Jody Carrington’s “Kids these days” I love her approach on reframing attention-seeking behaviour to connection-seeking behavior – it has made such a difference to how I respond to behaviour that is typically seen as challenging.
